Col. C.E. "Bud" Anderson flew with
the 363rd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group, and led
Cement Squadron on June 29, 1944, just southwest of Leipzig,
Germany. After confirmation of the first victory, he saw the
second Fw 190 heading for the clouds and pursued, attacking
from the rear. The canopy flew off and the pilot started to
climb out as Anderson flew alongside his Luftwaffe opponent.
This print captures the dramatic scene. This day, Capt.
Anderson would claim a total of three Fw 190s expiring 1195
