| This is where Bill started feeling
bad. Actually, he started feeling real bad. There were a number
of reasons but one of them was dehydration. The expedition
leaders, Global Expeditions and Curtis Lieber both told me to remind everyone
to drink a lot of water even if they don't feel thirsty and I did do that
at the beginning of the trip, but then I slacked off. The cold dry
air on the North Pole and Sredney island really dried you out. You
could tell, not by having a dry mouth, but if your lips felt chapped.
I have learned this a long time ago that when my lips started to chap
that it was time to drink a lot of water. When you lips start to
chap you are not just a little dry, but, really dry for a long time.
In fact, at this very moment that I am writing this, my lips are dry and
I'm thirsty just thinking about it.
