These photos and text were sent to me by my, now, late friend Graham Eich from Bloomington Illinois.

These men and women must be remembered throughout history so that future generations will know how much difficulty the conquest of space and any dream man has ever had can be.  It is important to remember that these people were working for the betterment of all mankind trying to find new medicines, new materials, and new places for mankind to live.  Our job is to ensure that we do not forget why they went into space and to support the space program like we never did before.

High Flight

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,

I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high un-trespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

When I must leave you for a little while
Please do not grieve and shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you through the years
But start out bravely with a gallant smile;

Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer
And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near;
And never, never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky!

 A New SONG to Honor All Columbia Crew as Our Heroes
 Dear  Sir  :

 I'm a Poet of Washington State. Right after the disaster of  Columbia Shuttle on Feb.02/03,  I wrote a special Poem named "Our Heroes!" in order to Honor All  Seven Columbia Crew as   Our outstanding Heroes of the whole world.   My Poem was chosen  to publish in 2 different   Poetry Books :  -  "Garden of Youth" of the International Library of    Poetry   among over 2500 other Poems.   -  "Theatre of the Mind" on Noble House among 180 other  Poems ( My Poem was printed   on very first page).   -   My Poem was also chosen with other 33 best Poems to  record in "CD Album" named "The Sound of Poetry".

A month later, a very talent American Song Writer read my  Poem in the Poetry Book with his  great emotional feeling and he decided to set my Poem to The  Music. And His new SONG just  done on November 23/03 with his satisfaction. Mr. RONALD D. HEGE   (Nickname is RONNIE  HAIG) is living at Indianapolis. He wrote over 500 songs in 45  years experiences. He is a Song  Writer, a Musician, a Performer and a Producer.   So, His New    Song  "My Heroes" will be warm  welcomed  by most people around the world. Why? Because every   people  always love and honor  The Astronauts as the most outstanding persons in the whole   world.  Their contributions to The  Free World were so wonderful !!!
