This is a picture of the Antonov An-74 on the all ice runway at Camp Barneo which is about 60 miles from the geographical North Pole. Note the high engines. This plane is designed to be a STOL (Short Take - Off and Landing) aircraft with the intent of ice operations such as this. This is the largest aircraft that I've seen on the North Pole. |
