A note from the Webmaster: Look at the port holes on the front of this ship. Look at the port holes at the very front of this aircraft carrier. Back in 1978 when I was stationed on the Hawk, I had a friend hold my belt and I hung out of one of the portholes and looked down at the bow of the ship. The water was smooth that day and very clear. You could see the bottom of the ship, underwater, as if we were flying in the air. This was great and one of the greatest things that I have ever seen.
