Our North Pole Expedition members are unloading equipment and supplies into the Khatanga Hotel. This is something that expedition members must do several times during this adventure, load and unload equipment. In fact, this was the very last true expedition to the Geographic North Pole. In a true expedition, you have to carry everything that you need to survive. You don't really don't know if you are going to make it to your destination, this time the Geographic North Pole. The North Pole Expeditions now are completely different, you fly to the pole, drink champagne and stay in an already set up heated tent and even have a cafeteria and a restroom. There are people who take the Ski the Last Degree Tour and it is extremely difficult to do this. There are also people who ski all the way to the pole which takes about two months of constant, extreme effort and they are on a real expedition too. But, this expedition was the very last of the true expeditions where you couldn't just fly there like you were going to a luxury hotel, we had to make it there and carry all of our luxury ourselves. |
