My husband told me a story tonight that I was simply amazed to
hear-- McCain was only at LtJG -- and only after he came back
did they make him a >T Commander-- he was given the title-- he
didn't earn it. McCain likes war-- I don't -- I served during
the VN era as did my husband who is retired Navy. When Bushie
went to war with
Iraq we had another VN -- and MCCain is supporting this
atrocity???
McCain Should Be Feared, Writer Says
Presidential hopeful
John McCain is being billed as the Republican that
liberals can live with, but his credentials as a "bipartisan
progressive" are in fact a "lazy, hazy myth," according to
liberal pundit Johann Hari.
"The truth is that McCain is the candidate we should most
fear," writes Hari, a columnist for The Independent in
Britain, in an article that appeared in the
Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "Not only is he to the right
of Bush on a whole range of subjects, he is also the Republican
candidate most likely to dispense with
Hillary Clinton or
Barack Obama."
Hari writes of McCain: "Rage seems to
be at the core of his personality. Describing his own childhood,
McCain has written: 'At the smallest provocation I would go off
into a mad frenzy, and then suddenly crash to the floor
unconscious. When I got angry I held my breath until I blacked
out.'"
McCain has distinguished himself as an uber-hawk on foreign
policy, according to Hari, who is on the editorial board of The
Liberal magazine.
"To give a brief smorgasbord of his views: At a recent rally,
he sang 'bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb-bomb
Iran,' to the tune of the Beach Boys' 'Barbara Ann.' He
says
North Korea should be threatened with 'extinction.'
"McCain has mostly opposed using U.S. power for humanitarian
goals, jeering at proposals to intervene in
Rwanda or
Bosnia . . .
"So why do so many nice liberals have a
weak spot for McCain? Well, to his credit, he doesn't hate
immigrants: He proposed a program to legalize the 12 million
undocumented workers in the U.S. He sincerely opposes torture,
as a survivor of it himself. He has apologized for denying
global warming and now advocates a cap on
greenhouse gas emissions but only if
China and
India can also be locked into the system."
Hari concludes: "These sprinklings of sanity - onto a very
extreme program - are enough for a superficial, glib press to
present McCain as 'bipartisan' and 'centrist.'"
He's an angry man- and he expects people to
put up with him-- we can't have angry people in the White house
just like we can't have lunatics -- that we have now.
I am originally from
Texas-- I grew up with no blacks in schools-- I was the
first white student to write an essay on blacks -- and rec'd an
A for it mainly because I with stood the uneasiness of my
peers. I joined the Navy and was told that the black girl on
the other side of the lockers and I would have to find a way to
get along-- it took 2 weeks-- but we did. I also had a nanny
that was black for about 4 years-- so really I didn't have to
work too hard to accept the black girl on the other side of the
locker-- she had to accept me also. Obama is 1/2 and 1/2--- I
am voting for Obama because he was against the entire war
whatever in Iraq-- I am voting for him because he knows many
cultures-- I am voting for him because I really feel that he
will give the new warriors aka military survivors a chance to
heal and go on and because he's 1/2 white and 1/2 black. The
black 1/2 is what interests me-- the closet thing we have ever
come to a black president is
Colin Powell-- and Bush killed him by lying to him and
making him lie. I think this country should be brought together
with the quality of life and liberty for 1/2 the whites and 1/2
the blacks and if they see an American President of color --
maybe they will come to realize they have come a long way BABY!
Maybe not. But it's worth a shot for me to
see it before I go out of this world. I had a Wave Friend of
mine tell me that was the wrong reason to vote for President-- I
said well it might be-- but I don't think in this day and age
that anyone really cares-- everyone votes for the craziest of
reasons.
So in the long and short of it-- that is why
and whether or not it fits the season makes no difference -- I
would not put another Bush lover in office for all the tea in
China or
England --
Thanks for asking
