This is the airplane that most pilots have trained as their primary flight trainer. The Cessna 150 and 152 aircraft are almost exactly the same with the increase of ten horsepower in the Cessna 152. One day I tried to see how high the 150 would fly and after about forty minutes the 150 only made it to 11,400 feet. But it was still climbing at ten feet per minute and I had an indication of just under 50 mph. The temperature on the ground was about ten degrees and at altitude was about minus two degrees. |

Forerunner of the popular Cessna 152 trainer, the Cessna 150 is a small, two passenger airplane available in several versions, including the C150K Aerobat, which can perform a variety of aerobatic maneuvers and is stressed for +6G and -3G at its gross weight of 1600lbs. The aircraft is powered by a 100hp Continental O-200 flat four engine which gives a maximum speed of 162mph and a ceiling of 12,650 feet. From the Webmaster: The maximum speed of 162 is V-Max or Never Exceed Speed. I could never get a 150 or a 152 to cruise over about 110 mph and a maximum altitude of 11,400 on a very cold day, way below freezing.
