By the structure in the background, it looks to me like they're building a Tee Pee. All I know is that these men went from being sailors, to warriors, construction men, to maintenance mechanics and pilots. The jobs were many and varied in accordance with the shift in the requirements. New construction on Ie Shima wasn't like new construction back here at home. They had to do new construction because they need a new building. They needed new construction because of a typhoon knocked the buildings down, and they needed to do new construction because someone else, namely the Japanese, knocked the buildings down. |
