The USS Kitty Hawk CV-63 in the Port of Yokosuka Japan. The Kitty Hawk by Darren Drake |
At this date the USS Kitty
Hawk was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan.
When I was on the Kitty Hawk,
1977-1978, it was stationed in San Diego but we did have a chance to visit
Yokosuka, Japan for ten days.
The people here treated you well but
they didn't seem to really like American sailors, however, once I went
more than one mile away from the front gate of the base the Japanese people
were very nice.
Our country could take some lessons from the Japanese
on courtesy.
I later found the reason why the Japanese people that
lived near the base didn't really like the Americans.
It was because
the drunks and trouble makers only went about a mile from the base.
This was a very bad representation of the American people.

This is the Kitty Hawk in its home port, Yokosuka, Japan. If you've never been to Japan it's really a treat. The people are real nice and the countryside is beautiful. |
