are some more pictures of the F-16 Falcon from the 183rd Fighter Squadron
in Springfield, Illinois. This f-16 is set out so anyone can
take a real close look and look we did. All of the kids had a chance
to look at the rounded leading edge and the super sharp trailing edge.
We play the computer game Falcon 4.0 and these kids can look at how the
control surfaces work on the simulator and how they work on the real airplane.
On the root of the horizontal stabilizer, you can see the speed brakes
just like on Falcon 4.0. The wing tips have mounts for sidewinder
missiles and the wings have mounts for external fuel tanks and bombs.
This is a real treat and a tremendous training tool for youth of all
ages and especially for youth who belong to the
Y-I-BET program, because these kids have a chance to watch movies, build
models and work with people who know about aviation and who spend the time
teaching kids before coming to the airshow. For example, before we
came to this airshow we watched Iron Eagle 3, and built some wooden F-16
models. Did these kids learn a lot? You bet, and that's Y-I-BET
on the Youth of America. |
