Using a Drilling Block to Protect the Spar
This is a good practice to prevent damage to your work

It is very necessary to use a drilling block when drilling a hole in the spar.Both the entry point and especially the exit point of the drill hole can sustain damage in the drilling process. The drilling blocks must be tightly clamped into place to assure that they will protect your wood. It would be very bad news and an expensive lesson to damage your spar at this point in the project, so, be sure to protect yourself. |
