2005 North Pole Exhibit Home

Click Here's a closer view of these dog kennels. The dogs each have their own house and are attached to their house by a rope that only extends far enough so that they cannot have contact with other dogs.  These kennels are built on solid ground covered with ice. The ground here is permafrost and there is very little vegetation  growing.  These are all sled dogs and they are trained to pull a sled both on Spitsbergen and on the North Pole.
