On the IE Shima Island south of Japan.
It makes sense to have a local quarry due to the massive construction of
runways, roads and perimeter mounds.  I can imagine that most of the
Pacific islands where U.S. Forces existed contained a quarry.

It was impossible to carry everything to the Pacific islands in a ship.  Being in the
Military in World War 2, and even today, meant that when you got there you had to
dig in and survive.  That's what this quarry is doing.  These men are surviving.
