The book never said why these people were standing in line but there are a
hundred reasons.
When I lived in the Philippines, the Philippino people told me that the
Americans treated them
very well during WW2. This is the exact opposite description that they
gave me about the
Japanese soldiers when they occupied the island. I'm not going to describe
the conditions
that were described to me, but the Philippino people said that their only hope
was what
General Macarthur said, "We Shall Return."
